# Women Empowerment: All women crew to operate Train station in Jaipur- A first for Rajasthan#

In our country towards women Empowerment Indian Railways have taken a big step by giving women’s a Railway station to be owned & controlled independently by them.

This Railway station is in gandhi nagar district of Jaipur, which is made a women operated railway station by West Railways , Jaipur comittee. Being a capital of Rajasthan it is the famous station situated at Jaipur – Delhi Rail way. At this station approx. 50 trains passes daily in which 25 trains have a stop here.

In this Railway station starting from station master to a pointsmen all the female employees are appointed.

The responsibility of passengers safety will also be of womens only. In jaipur city from the eastern areas like Malviya nagar, jagatpura , Bajaj nagar, Tonk road , Jawaharlal Nehru Route approx 7000 passengers travels from gandhinagar Railway station. Because of many colleges & coaching centres situated here passengers includes are mostly females & students.

Station master Angela Stella, who completed one year in the Indian railways was excited and happy with the new responsibility. “I have never thought I would be handling a station which would be all-women within one year of my job. I will abide by all the safety norms and apply standard operating practice while working,saithe

NWR general manager T P Singh congratulated the womens on the inaugural function on Monday afternoon.

“Women have always proved that they are equal to men. Thus, it is a pleasure for me to announce that Gandi Nagar is the first railway station of the country with an all-women crew. It is a challenging job and I hope all women employees deployed here will meet the expectations of the passengers,”

“Matunga railway station of Mumbai is also managed by women and it is in the suburban category while our station is first in the main line category,”

The station is also one of the six in the country with a sanitary napkin dispenser.
